📋 This setup guide
Step 1 — Power on
1

Connect power

Plug the USB-C cable into the device and into a USB charger or power bank (5V, 1A minimum). The right-angle adapter keeps the cable tidy if mounting flat against a wall.

First boot: the screen will light up and show FlightDeck-Setup. This is normal — it means no WiFi has been configured yet.
Step 2 — Connect to WiFi
1

Join FlightDeck-Setup

On your phone or laptop, open WiFi settings and connect to FlightDeck-Setup. No password required.

2

Open the setup page

A setup page should open automatically. If it doesn't, open a browser and go to 192.168.4.1

3

Select your network and enter password

Choose your home network from the dropdown list. Enter your WiFi password and tap Connect & Save. If you have a mesh network, only one entry appears — the device picks the strongest node automatically.

4

Device reboots and connects

The screen shows Saved! Rebooting... and the device connects to your network. Reconnect your phone to your normal WiFi.

Network not in the list? Make sure you're within range of your router when setting up. The device scans for nearby networks when the setup page loads.
Step 3 — Set your location
1

Open web settings

On any device connected to the same WiFi, open a browser and go to http://flightdeck.local

2

Set your location

In the Location section, enter your latitude and longitude (or pick a nearby airport from the dropdown). Set your preferred radius — 40–80nm works well for most locations.

3

Save settings

Tap Save Settings. The display updates within 15 seconds showing aircraft overhead.

Find your coordinates: go to Google Maps, long-press your location, and the coordinates appear at the top of the screen.
Using the display

Aircraft cards

The main screen shows the nearest aircraft overhead, sorted by distance. Each card shows the airline livery, callsign, altitude, speed, and distance from you.

Tap a card

Tap any aircraft card for a full-screen detail view with altitude, speed, track, route, and vertical rate.

Tap the header bar

Cycles through the Stats screen (total aircraft seen today) and History log (notable aircraft including military, heavies, and fast movers), then back to cards.

Follow a flight

From the web GUI at http://flightdeck.local, search for a callsign (e.g. BA441) and tap Follow. The display switches to a live follow mode showing flight phase, altitude, and progress.

Location & Radius

Set your home coordinates and how far out to look. 40nm is a good starting point. Maximum recommended is 250nm.

Filters

Toggle commercial, military, light GA, and ground traffic on or off.

Brightness & Refresh

Adjust screen brightness and how often the display updates (10–60 seconds).

Firmware updates

Updates are delivered automatically. When one is available, a banner appears at the top of the settings page — tap Install now to update.

Troubleshooting
Screen shows "FlightDeck-Setup" on every boot — the saved WiFi password may be wrong. Join FlightDeck-Setup again and re-enter your credentials.
No aircraft showing — check your location is set correctly in the web GUI, and that your radius is large enough. Rural areas may need 80–100nm.
Can't reach flightdeck.local — make sure your phone or laptop is on the same WiFi as the device. The device's IP address is shown on screen after connecting.
Health check: visit http://flightdeck.local/health to see WiFi signal strength, memory usage, and uptime.
